EMILY
FICTION SECTION EDITOR

High School Senior, Washington

Emily has written seven full-length manuscripts, is certainly working on more, and reads everything she can get her hands on. Emily is a graduate of CCYW’s Master Mentor Program, having worked with published author Eldon Thompson on one of her most recent manuscripts.  In 2009, she attended the PNWA (Pacific Northwest Writer’s Association) Conference. There she had the chance to meet other writers in different stages of publication, and talk with different literary agents and hear what they have to say about the publishing industry and different expectations and helpful hints. Aside from writing she likes reading, soccer, swimming, volleyball, 40’s music, old movies with Cary Grant and James Stewart, strong coffee, and fancy lotions.

MARCO
FICTION SECTION EDITOR
Middle School, 7th grade, California

ALDA
SENIOR FICTION SECTION EDITOR

High School Senior, New York

Alda has completed five fantasy manuscripts and is currently working on a sixth novel, on top of homework and the SAT’s. Being a big nerd (and proud of it), she participates in just about every academic team there is. Aside from writing books that are too long for their own good, Alda enjoys reading, surfing the internet even though she has other things to do and archery, which she isn’t very good at but will keep at anyway.

ANNINA
POETRY SECTION EDITOR

Middle School, 8th grade, California

Annina is an avid reader and typically finishes a large novel in a couple of days and publishes book reviews online under a pen name.  Annina is also currently working on a fiction novel as well as a few short stories.  She discovered her interest in writing poetry last year during a stay in the hospital.  Since then she has written many poems and is compiling them for a short book. When she is not writing, Annina enjoys drawing, painting and playing her musical instruments.  She regularly adds her artwork to a web site which donates a percentage of her greeting card sales to osteosarcoma research.

ELA
SENIOR POETRY SECTION EDITOR

High School Senior, California

Ela has long been an avid writer and her pieces have had the honor of being selected by such publications and writing affiliates as the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, Creative Communications, The Sacramento Poetry Center, and Writing Magazine.  For the past two years, she has also been co-editor of her high school literary magazine, The Roseville Review.  Ela serves as co-president of her high school Speech and Debate Club and co-editor of the 2009 Ankur (Sacramento Bengali Community) Deshari Magazine.  Ela will bring enthusiasm and encouragement to the CCYW Literary Journal.  Her hope is to help others get their voices heard and to learn something about her own writing in return.

ELENA
SONGWRITING SECTION EDITOR
High School Freshman, California

Elena’s first attempt at writing short fiction was awarded first place and $750 by The Betty Award in 2007 with her story My Fairy and Me.  In 2008, Elena attended Stanford University’s EPGY two week resident program in creative writing, participating with 20 other students from all over the world.  Other interests include singing in a choir, playing the piano, guitar, bass clarinet and tenor saxophone.  Elena started writing her own music compositions at age 10 and aspires to be a songwriter and singer.

JAMISON
SONGWRITING SECTION EDITOR
High School, Georgia

Savannah singer-songwriter and poet Jamison Murphy won the 2008 Savannah Folk Music Society Youth Songwriting Competition for his song “Happy, Healthy, Normal and Strong,” a sung poem of love and encouragement for his infant nephew with Down Syndrome. He placed among the top four festival finalists the previous year. Jamison’s inspiration lies in the work of Bob Dylan and Pink Floyd.  He continues to tell stories in both his poetry and his music while he pursues a second love of geography. He released his first album in January 2010.

ALISON
CREATIVE NON-FICTION SECTION EDITOR

COLTON
CREATIVE NON-FICTION SECTION EDITOR
High School Senior, Georgia

Colton aspires to become either a literary agent/editor or a literature teacher. He has written several essays that have earned him state recognition. He wrote and directed an original play for elementary school kids this summer. It’s safe to say if it is in written word he will want to get his hands on it, as will those around him. He is primarily fascinated by the darker side of reality such as true crimes and dark psychology as evidenced by his novels.
